La idea de Webcam in Iraq es clara: queremos ver las caras del pueblo iraquí. Como puede comprobarse, en esta web no aparecen nombres de dirigentes ni presidentes. No queremos verles, ya aparecen demasiado a menudo en nuestros televisores.

Pero no sólo queremos solidarizarnos con las gentes de Irak, sino también con el pueblo norteamericano, que está sufriendo una terrible guerra de propaganda, de alertas terroristas y de gastos militares que repercutirán en su bienestar, con descenso del gasto en educación y sanidad. La mayoría de los norteamericanos también protesta y se manifiesta en las calles porque no está dispuesta a sacrificar sangre por petróleo.

Sin embargo, apenas si podemos verles. En nuestras pantallas sólo aparecen sus políticos y sus militares. Por eso también es necesario que les conozcamos y, sobre todo, que los iraquíes vean que los ciudadanos estadounidenses normales y corrientes tampoco quieren esta guerra. Con este objetivo, estamos ultimando el proyecto Webcam in the USA, del cual os podremos informar muy pronto.

Asimismo, algunas asociaciones que cuentan con webcams han expresado su deseo de cambiar su ubicación e instalarlas en lugares donde puedan grabar aquellas calles en las cuales se manifiestan en contra de esta barbarie. Todas serán debidamente enlazadas a esta página en los próximos días.

The idea of the Webcam in Iraq is a clear one: we want to see faces of the Iraqi people. As you can see, on this web the names of the leaders and presidents do not appear. We don’t want to see them, they already appear too much on our TVs.

However, we don’t want to be solidary with the people from Iraq only, but also with the North American people, who have been suffering a terrible propaganda war, terrorist alerts and military expenses that are going to jeopardize their own health, descending the expenses in education and health services. The majority of the North Americans has also been manifesting their disagreement in the streets because they are don’t want to sacrifice their blood for petroleum.

However, if only we could see them. On our screens the only ones to be seen are their politicians and their military officers. Therefore, it is also necessary to meet them, and above all, to allow the Iraqi people to see that normal and ordinary American citizens are also against this war. Having that as a goal, we have been working on the final phase of the project Webcam in the USA, about which we’ll be able to inform you very soon.

In the same way, some associations counting on the webcams have presented their wish to change their location and to locate their offices in places where they could record the streets where manifestations against this barbarity take place.
